ERC Mission Statement

The Association's objectives are as follows:

  • to preserve life by improving standards of Resuscitation in Europe and
  • to co-ordinate the activities of European organisations with a major interest in Resuscitation medicine and Emergency Medical Care.

The Association shall pursue its objectives by :

  • Producing guidelines and recommendations appropriate to Europe for the practice of Cardiopulmonary and Cerebral Resuscitation.
  • Updating these guidelines in the light of critical review of Resuscitation practice.
  • Promoting the audit of Resuscitation practice including the standardisation of records of resuscitation attempts.
  • Designing standardised teaching programmes suitable for all trainees in Europe ranging from the lay public to the qualified physician.
  • Promoting, organising and co-ordinating appropriate research.
  • Organising relevant congresses and other scientific meetings in Europe.
  • Promoting political and public awareness of Resuscitation requirements and practice in Europe.
  • Promoting exchanges amongst different disciplines
  • Advising relevant European and other national and international bodies on all matters and problems relating to CPR.
