The Austrian Resuscitation Council has produced the ‘Salzburg Declaration’ (text in German). They have succeeded in bringing together the Austrian initiatives for Kids Save Lives in schools (and also one in a kindergarten), the rescue organizations and the Austrian Youth Red Cross; and to set up this important, unique and corporate declaration. It was sent both to the states and national politics and magistrates as well as to the Austrian press.
In Austria, a 30 year old law prescribes First Aid Education in the fifth year of school (delivered by the Austrian Youth Red Cross). We are happy that with this declaration now, we took a big step forward towards focusing on the importance of chest compression training in schoolchildren.
