On June 14th, 2012, a declaration from the European Parliament called for an institution of a cardiac arrest awareness week, throughout Europe. The Italian Resuscitation Council (IRC) has answered to this call by organizing a national week of awareness since 2013, the “Viva!” week (Settimana Viva, http://www.ircouncil.it/viva). Viva is an Italian word meaning both “alive” and “long live”.
The Viva! week takes place every year in the mid-October, always including the ERHD - European Restart a Heart Day. Viva! week is mainly directed to the lay population, trough public events, social media, survivor testimonials, training videos, innovative apps and the mass training events (Kids save lives 2016 and Society save lives 2017) in order to increase general awareness. The IRC has launched Kids save lives video and dedicated logo for the world wide ERC Kids save lives campaign.
This year the Viva! week will take place from 15th to 21st October 2018, shortly after the ERC Congress 2018 in Bologna.
