The European Resuscitation Council (ERC) proudly announces two research funding opportunities for 2025. These awards reflect our commitment to advancing resuscitation science, strengthening collaboration across Europe, and supporting the next generation of researchers.
By investing in innovative ideas and collaborative projects, the ERC aims to foster scientific progress, improve education and implementation strategies, and ultimately contribute to saving lives.
ERC/NRC Collaboration Award 2025
The ERC/NRC Collaboration Award 2025 offers National Resuscitation Councils (NRCs) the opportunity to join forces and develop innovative research projects together. By bringing two or more ERC-affiliated councils into partnership, this award is designed to stimulate cross-border collaboration and encourage the sharing of expertise, experiences, and resources.
Each successful project will receive up to €10,000 in funding. In total, up to four projects will be awarded in 2025. The funding is flexible and can be used to cover essential project costs such as personnel, data collection and analysis, equipment, travel necessary for collaboration, and dissemination activities including presentations at conferences or open access publications.
Projects must begin within 12 months of the award and may run for up to 24 months, giving NRCs time to build meaningful partnerships and generate impactful results. Applications are open until 15 November 2025 (23:59 CET), with successful applicants notified on 30 December 2025.
This award is about more than financial support: it is a chance to strengthen bonds across the ERC network, to build lasting partnerships, and to create research that directly impacts resuscitation practice across Europe and beyond.
ERC Young Investigator Award 2025
The ERC Young Investigator Grant 2025 is a dedicated funding scheme for early-career researchers who are ready to take the next step in their scientific journey. With up to €15,000 available per project and up to four awards granted in 2025, this initiative empowers young investigators to lead their own projects, develop independent research skills, and lay the foundation for future studies.
Eligibility is open to ERC members who are within 10 years of completing their highest academic degree, are not currently in a tenured or professorial role, and are supported by a mentor who is also an ERC member. Each applicant may only submit one proposal in this funding round.
The grant is intended to support essential project activities, including personnel costs, data collection and analysis, equipment, software, travel, and dissemination activities such as presenting at scientific meetings or publishing in open-access journals. Certain costs, such as permanent staff salaries, large capital equipment, commercial research activities, and tuition fees, are not eligible.
Applications for the Young Investigator Award must be submitted by 15 November 2025 (23:59 CET), with successful applicants notified on 30 December 2025.
Beyond financial support, this award is an opportunity to gain visibility, expand professional networks, and take the first steps toward a long-term career in resuscitation research.
