The European Resuscitation Council (ERC) extends its thoughts and support to Christian Eriksen, his family, teammates, friends, and all those affected by the distressing events that occurred during the match between Denmark and Ukraine.

We are relieved to learn that Christian Eriksen is conscious and receiving appropriate medical care. According to reports, he was attended to immediately by the on-site medical team and was promptly transferred for further assessment and treatment.

Incidents such as this serve as a powerful reminder of the importance of preparedness in responding to medical emergencies. The rapid recognition of a potentially life-threatening condition, immediate intervention by trained professionals, and the presence of well-organised emergency response systems are critical elements in improving outcomes and saving lives.

As an organisation dedicated to improving survival from cardiac arrest and other medical emergencies, the ERC recognises and values the efforts of all healthcare professionals, first responders, event medical teams, and support staff who help ensure the highest standards of emergency care at sporting events and within our communities.

"On behalf of the European Resuscitation Council, I would like to express our sincere wishes for Christian Eriksen’s full and speedy recovery. Events like these remind us why strong systems of care, public awareness, and resuscitation training remain essential. Together, we continue to work towards a future in which more lives can be saved through rapid recognition, early intervention, and effective teamwork," say the ERC President, Federico Semeraro.
