Basic Instructor Course
The Basic Instructor Course (BIC) course prepares selected candidates to become ERC-certified instructors in Basic Life Support and AED training.
To train as many BLS providers as possible across Europe and beyond, the European Resuscitation Council (ERC) developed the Basic Instructor Course (BIC). It is designed for healthcare professionals and lay persons who have shown exceptional aptitude during their BLS or EPBLS Provider course and have been nominated as having Instructor Potential (IP).
The BIC course focuses on teaching techniques, interactive lectures, and demonstrations. Successful participants receive the ERC Instructor Candidate Certificate and become Instructor Candidates. They achieve full Instructor status after teaching on two ERC courses.
Candidates must hold an ERC BLS or EPBLS Provider certificate and be nominated as having Instructor Potential to enrol in this course.
