Paediatric Basic Life Support
The Paediatric Basic Life Support (PBLS) course trains participants to recognise and manage paediatric emergencies, including cardiac arrest, choking, and sudden collapse.
The Paediatric Basic Life Support (PBLS) course is designed for anyone working with children who may be confronted with paediatric emergencies. The training focuses on recognising when a child is unresponsive, initiating resuscitation, and providing safe, effective interventions until professional help arrives.
Through practical, hands-on training, participants gain confidence in performing chest compressions and rescue breaths, using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), supporting a choking child, and placing a child in the recovery position. The course also covers the specific situation of sudden collapse in children and how to respond.
There are no specific requirements for entry to this course. Anyone working with children may enrol in a Paediatric Basic Life Support course.
